Jarred briskly walked into the barn, keeping in mind what ella had calmly told him. Try not to work the horses so hard in exercise runs. He had taken it well, and would honestly abide by these new restrictions. It would be hard to keep Ben in, but the colt would have to straighten up. So without a word, Jarred opened the seal brown Thoroughbred's stall and herded him out into the cross ties.
He groomed the fiesty colt who was constantly tossing his head. Then he started to side-step. "Knock it off!" the man said and gave the horse a small smack on the butt. Immediately the colt lowered his head. Though he was hot-headed, all he needed to calm down was a bit of a firm hand. Sometimes literally, sometimes not. Jarred finished his nice grooming job with a picking of hooves, then he tacked the colt up in the light racing saddle and bridle. He used the flash noseband white one. That was Ben's normal practice bridle. His race one was white, but was raised. Quickly Jarred strapped his helmet on and headed out to the track.
